Sandy A. Hess, 74, went to be with Jesus on January 21, 2026, after a short courageous battle with cancer.
She resided with the love of her life, Dr. Francis G. Salter, in Brockway, PA for the last 40 years.
Sandy was born on July 8, 1951, in DuBois, PA to Joseph and Hazel (Brubaker) Dressler. She grew up in Rockton, PA, with a large family, where she raised and showed horses most of her childhood. She had a love for animals, especially labs and owned a few throughout her life.
Sandy was well known through her years of employment as a waitress at Steak-n-Snack and at the floral shop at Shop-n-Save.
She was an amazing mother and friend to her two daughters, a wonderful grandma to her grandchildren, and an amazing Memaw to her great-grandchildren. She loved being called “Hessinator,” a nickname her grandchildren dubbed her with and she wore with a badge of honor.
She was beautiful, talented and creative and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Her wicked sense of humor will lend to many stories in the future years.
Sandy is survived by the love of her life, Dr. Francis Gail Salter; her two children, Michele Golanka, Jennifer Brown; her grandchildren, Bryant (Dustie) Dahl, Kristi (Jeremy) Tresler, Austin (Reagan) Dahl; great-grandchildren, AshLynn, JaeLynn, Crimsyn, Lennox, Rylee; step great-grandchildren, Bella and Marley; siblings, Patricia (William) Briggs, Michael (Tania) Dressler; and other very special loved ones, Suzanne (William) Kirk, Kenny (Janice) Salter, Kathy (Dwight) Kline, Carol (Dave) Carlini, Linda (Brad) Conrad, Virginia Rose, Leah Salter, Yvonne (Jeremy) Wright; and 13 grandchildren.
Preceded by Regis Dressler, Cora Lee Kuntz, Bonnie Luce, Mary Jo Duttry, David Dressler, son-in-laws, Joseph Golanka, and Lewellyn “Keith” Brown.
Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m., with Dick Hertlein officiating at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockton.
Interment will take place in the Rockton Cemetery.
