ALTOONA — Friday’s loss against Forest Hills was a tough one to handle for the Clearfield Lady Bison, as their own miscues caused struggles and they led to easy points, and their first loss in a matter of weeks. The sting of the loss seemed to linger into Monday night when the team hit the road again to face Bishop Guilfoyle.

The girls fell behind early, and in the middle of the game were reined in where there was no coming back. The 62-34 loss was the second straight for the team in a matter of days.

Bishop Guilfoyle got going early, and often, as the Lady Marauders would launch out to a 23-11 lead after one quarter of play. It was the quarters surrounding halftime where Clearfield’s offense was halted, and their defense cut through like a hot knife through butter. Bishop Guilfoyle limited Clearfield to only seven points in the second quarter, and would take a 42-18 lead into halftime. Once teams exited the locker room, the game was put on ice.

Much like the temperatures outside, Clearfield was not just cold, but arctic. In the third quarter, one lone bucket was all the girls could put up.

By contrast, the Lady Marauders put up 16 points to put the running clock into effect for the remainder of the night. Morgan Ruggery would lead the game with an 18-point performance, while Amberlyn Petrecca was just behind with 17 points. Bishop Guilfoyle did struggle at the line, only shooting 4-for-10.

For Clearfield, Sonny Diehl again led the charge in a 17-point effort, with Eve Helsel adding in another 12.

It will be a few days before Clearfield (9-4) gets back on the court as they return to action on Thursday night with a road trip to Tyrone.
