Alfie Alene (Spencer) Paulauskas, 83, of Punxsutawney, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA.
Alfie was born on March 1, 1942, to the late Harry and Roxie (Huey) Spencer in Bear Run, PA.
She married Gary Paulauskas in January 1982, in Troutville, PA; Gary survives her.
Alfie worked for Loree Footwear until they closed.
She then worked for Sportswear Clothing and for Paulauskas Personal Care Home.
Alfie’s most treasured job was taking care of her family and farm.
She was always busy with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Family was very important to her and her very close friend, Mona Harmon.
She enjoyed hunting and crocheting in her earlier years.
Alfie enjoyed being outside, fishing with her daughter, and planting flowers.
She also found joy in goodwill shopping, yard sales, looking at cookbooks, and reading her bible.
Alfie was well known for her mashed potatoes, fudge, and bun making.
Alfie was kindhearted and compassionate.
You could always find her helping others any way she could.
Alfie was very fond of animals.
She loved giraffes and had a newly found pet when she came home from the nursing home in November: a baby goat which she named “Misty”.
In addition to her husband, Alfie is survived by one daughter: Tracy A. (Nathan) Swineford; two grandchildren: Hayden Swineford and Deegan Swineford; two sisters: Clara (Clarence) Conrad and Christine (Randy) McCombs; one uncle: Robert (Cathy) Huey; four nephews: Jim (Carrie) Jones, Richard Conrad, Alton (Amanda) Myers Sr., Randy (Amy) McCombs Jr.; two nieces: Susanna Jones and Angella (Jim) Pearce; and three cousins: Reba (Scott) Tyger, Rita Bennett, and Pat Perkins.
In addition to her parents, Alfie is preceded in passing by one sister: Noami Myers; and two nephews: Jerry Jones and Jerry Conrad.
All services were held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the Fait – d’Argy Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
