PHILIPSBURG- The Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership has named Josiah Jones as its new executive director, the Philipsburg-based nonprofit organization announced this week.
A native of the Moshannon Valley area, Jones has most recently served as vice president of marketing for the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, where he was first hired as chief administrative officer in 2022. He previously worked as executive and marketing director for the Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority, and has served on the boards of the MVEDP, the Philipsburg Revitalization Corporation and other community and economic development organizations.
“We are thrilled to welcome Josiah into this role,” Karen Blair, MVEDP Board President, said in a statement. “His vision, energy, and deep commitment to the Moshannon Valley make him the ideal leader to guide the Partnership into its next phase of growth. We are confident he will continue to expand opportunities for businesses, residents, and the broader region.”
Jones will oversee the MVEDP’s strategic initiatives, business retention and expansion programs, industrial park development and regional marketing efforts. He will also work closely with local, county and state partners to attract new investment and support the long-term economic health of the Moshannon Valley.
“I am honored to step into this position and serve the community I care so deeply about,” Jones said in a statement. “The Moshannon Valley has tremendous potential, and I look forward to working with our partners to build on the strong foundation already in place. Together, we can continue to create opportunities that benefit businesses, families, and future generations.”
He succeeds Stan LaFuria, who served the organization for 35 years and helped advance several major development projects during his tenure.
The MVEDP is a membership-based organization dedicated to fostering economic growth, supporting local businesses and enhancing the quality of life throughout the Moshannon Valley region.
