According to a criminal complaint, Punxsutawney Borough Police received a call around 5:45 p.m. on January 4 from a woman reporting a physical altercation. Punxsutawney Borough Police Patrolmen responded to a residence on Lewis Street, where the woman told officers that her husband, Kevin McQuown, was angry all day and had made comments toward her. She explained that in the evening, she finally had enough, and she went upstairs, the complaint continues.
According to the complaint, the woman informed police that she heard McQuown tell the children, “I’ll be right back, I’m going to snap your mom’s neck.” The complaint states that McQuown then followed her upstairs and began a physical attack.
The woman told officers she was in a state of panic and fought back to get down the stairs, the complaint continues. Officers noted they heard children in the home talking about their parents fighting.
When McQuown was interviewed, he told police he went upstairs to wake his wife, who was taking a nap, and claimed she was aggressive toward him, the complaint states. He admitted to holding her down on a bed while she swung at him and acknowledged making the statement about breaking her neck and that he made it “out of aggression,” according to the complaint.
Police observed a small laceration on the neck of McQuown, but determined he was the aggressor, the complaint states.
Both parties declined medical services.
McQuown was arraigned on January 5 at 9:05 a.m. with Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock presiding.
Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.
Records indicate McQuown waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday, January 8, and all charges were transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.
