CLEARFIELD- Clearfield Borough Council’s attempt to sever ties with the Clearfield Regional Police Department has been halted following a court ruling on Monday.

Judge Paul E. Cherry continued an injunction requiring Clearfield Borough to remain part of the regional police  agreement. The ruling also mandates that the borough continue making regular payments to the department until proper dissolution can be made.

The decision was based on the argument that the borough’s attempt to withdraw from the agreement would create public safety concerns, not just for the borough but also for the broader region, which relies on the shared police force for security.
