CLEARFIELD – Many elderly citizens from the Clearfield and DuBois areas live alone with no close family members or no family at all.

But, as in past years, they have benefited from the generosity and thoughtfulness of their small communities.

A number of individuals and organizations came together this holiday season, providing truckloads of gifts and financial assistance for heating and medical needs.

A total of 264 gift tags were distributed for Christmas gifts for seniors and seniors raising their grandchildren. We anticipate that about $18,000.00 will be collected and provided directly to local fuel suppliers to ensure the frail and elderly stay warm in their own homes this winter.

The Clearfield Regional Police Department and MRAAA teamed up with the Clearfield Family Dollar store, Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Leyo’s Supermarket, New Image Tattoo and WOKW, Historica Plus, Shoe Sensation, Waggin Trains, Colonial Courtyard, The Gunpowder Grill, South Side Subs, Bubba Jay’s Home Décor, CMP Energy, DuBois Drug and Wellness, and Spanky’s  Courthouse Café to host the trees.

The employees of the local PennDOT, MidPenn Bank and CNB Bank had their own trees and collected internally.

Many senior citizens are often forgotten during the holiday season.

“We were so overwhelmed by the kindness of the residents of Clearfield County,” expressed Director of Business Development, Dennis Biancuzzo.

“Thank you for helping us enhance the quality of life for elderly residents throughout the county. We are truly grateful for your generosity.”

Programs and services of the agency are funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, Area Agency on Aging, Mature Resources Foundation and local and consumer contributions.
