CURWENSVILLE- Get ready for Curwensville’s second Christmas in Curwensville celebration which starts Friday and ends with the Reindeer Festival at the Strawberry Tree on Sunday.
On Friday there will be a special tree lighting ceremony in the Northwest Parking lot on State Street at 6 p.m. with performances by members of the High School and Elementary School Choirs as they count down to the lighting of the Christmas tree.
“After the tree is lit, families are invited to continue the fun at Hidden Star, where you can build gingerbread houses or at Bouquets by Jill where you can create magical holiday decorations to help decorate their festive window display,” according to information provided on the event.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Curwensville Historical Society is hosting a Cookie Walk, starting at The Patton House Museum (former Beardsley Funeral Home) on State Street. The cost is $20 per person. Limited tickets are still available which you can purchase at the Patton House.
“Walk around Curwensville and fill a box with delicious homemade cookies from our community bakers. From classic favorites to festive treats, there’s something for everyone!” it says on their Facebook page.
During the walk, participants can stop in the Strawberry Tree for a free hot chocolate.
You can take a break from cookie eating by taking a Christmas Carriage Ride from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Curwensville Methodist Church. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
“Experience the magic of the season as you glide down State Street in Curwensville, drawn by horse and carriage — the perfect way to make unforgettable holiday memories with your loved ones,” organizers say.
Last year’s popular Reindeer Festival has moved from Irvin Park to The Strawberry Tree on State Street and will be held on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

- Live Reindeer will be in the outside back area of The Strawberry Tree — plan to spend time visiting, learning, and asking their handlers questions!
- Santa will be indoors for warm, cozy visits — and after your visit, Santa will give each child s’more ingredients to make a treat!
- Enjoy soup, cookies, Coffee Shoppe drinks, and hot chocolate for sale all day.
- 30% OFF Christmas décor in the Gift Shop!
- Vendors will be inside so everyone stays toasty and warm while shopping. This includes Curwensville BPW, Curwensville’s Women’s Club, Mesh Wreaths, Corner Flower Company, the Charmed State, Perfectly Polished by Debi, and Knots and Bows.
- Victorian Carolers will fill the shop with classic holiday music.
- A Pet Photo Booth will be set up outside for your furry friends!
Parking is available at the United Methodist Church, St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, and along State Street. Tickets are only $5 per person and can be purchased at https://square.link/u/cyu3V8hX.
