LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (EYT) — The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced their weekly swimming award winners on Tuesday. Clarion athletes were represented on both the men’s and women’s sides as Dominic Cortopassi was named the PSAC Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week and Joslyn Jurski shared PSAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week honors with East Stroudsburg’s Anique Hazebroek.

Both the Clarion men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams earned dual meet victories over IUP on Saturday.

Cortopassi contributed to a relay win and also won two individual events in the Golden Eagles’ dual meet victory over IUP on Saturday as Clarion beat the Crimson Hawks 116-108 at Pidgeon Natatorium. It was the Golden Eagles who struck first in the meet, with the 200 Medley Relay team of Mason Peck, Cortopassi, Gavin Guckavan and Mason Irwin beating the Crimson Hawks by one hundredth of a second. Cortopassi followed with a win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.61. He also won the 100 Breast, beating IUP’s Patrik Kudla by 0.15 with a time of 58.44.

On the women’s side, Joslyn Jurski factored into all three wins for Clarion swimmers against IUP, touching the wall first in both the 200 Free and the 500 Free and swimming the third leg in the 200 Free Relay. In the 200 Free, the Golden Eagles had the top three finishers, representing a huge chunk of points in the final tally. Jurski was the first to complete the race, finishing in a time of 1:56.91. She struck for her second win of the day in the 500 Free, winning the long distance event with a time of 5:13.19, and then contributed to the team win in the 200 Free Relay, edging out the Crimson Hawks with a time of 1:38.61 to take the race by more than a second. The Golden Eagles won the meet 120-103.
