CLEARFIELD – Several charges against a Clearfield man accused of assaulting a 10-year old girl were withdrawn during centralized court Wednesday.
Terry L. Snyder, 52, was originally charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with child, aggravated indecent assault, two counts of corruption of minors, and two counts of indecent assault person less than 13 years old.
Only one count of corruption of minors and one count of indecent assault were sent on to the court of common pleas. His bail is set at $100,000 which was posted on Oct. 7.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, in February a woman told police she was helping the girl do her hair when the girl asked her if she was ever touched in her private area. The woman then asked the girl if she had been touched, and the girl said she had been touched by Snyder. She also said Snyder made her touch his privates.
The next day the victim’s sister said Snyder had also touched her.
On Feb. 28, the girls were interviewed at the Clearfield County Child Advocacy Center.
The victim said she was sick and taken home from school by Snyder. While she was sleeping and watching television, she allegedly woke to find Snyder putting his hand under the blanket and touching her private area.
She tried to get up, but he prevented her from leaving the couch, she said. She reported that he continued to touch her inappropriately and later it hurt when she urinated.
She also stated that when she was younger and they were watching television, he grabbed her hand and placed it on his crotch, on top of his clothing, police said.
When the other girl was questioned, she said she did not believe the victim was touched by Snyder. She then denied Snyder ever touched her.
In a second interview, the victim recalled the same details of the assaults, which indicated she was telling the truth, authorities said.
When questioned by police, Snyder said he wouldn’t talk without his lawyer.
