CLEARFIELD- A few items of business were discussed and voted on during the Clearfield County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday.
During the last meeting the commissioners opened two bids for food service at Clearfield County Jail but tabled awarding the bid until the solicitor and warden could review the bids.
The county voted to award the bid to Trinity Services Group and solicitor Heather Bozovich stated that they have worked with the county before and there were no issues. The contract is for one year with the option to renew.
The commissioners also appointed a new member to the Clearfield County Conservation District board.
Long time board member Larry Crittenden is retiring and Commissioner Dave Glass noted that Crittenden has served the county in various forms for many years, including with the board and also as a teacher in the Clearfield Area School District.
The new board member will be Landon Fairman.
Finally, the commissioners were presented with two proclamations for November.
The first declares November as National Adoption Awareness Month, noting that there are 3,500 children awaiting adoption in Pennsylvania with thousands more in the foster care system. National Adoption Awareness Month brings awareness to the need for adoptive families to provide safe permanent homes for children in need and encourages the community to get involved.
The other proclamation was to declare November as Veterans Appreciation Month, noting the county has a significant number of veterans who enrich the community and the month is set aside to honor them and raise awareness of their needs.
