CLEARFIELD – Waterways Conservation Officer Edward W. Brown will be honored with a special fish stocking event.
Brown served as an officer in Clearfield County for the P.A. Fish and Boat Commission from 1968-2000. As an avid sportsman, he loved to hunt, fish, and trap.
After he retired, he worked as a security officer at the Clearfield County Court House from 2008-2019.
He passed away on July 9.
Honoring him with a special walleye stocking of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River is the Squirrel Tails for Trout group. This event will be held Saturday, Nov. 1 at 11:00 a.m. by the R. Dudley Tonkin Raftsman’s Memorial Dam near the Buck’s Pizza parking lot.
The Squirrel Tails for Trout program collects squirrel tails which are sent to Sheldons’ Inc. in Antigo, Wisconsin where the hair is used to make the popular Mepps lure.
The money paid for the tails is then sent to the fish farm that provides fish for the annual stocking events.
Pat Domico started the organization in 2005.
