HARRISBURG – The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB) recently welcomed a new chief operating officer (COO) and chief development officer (CDO) to its team.
Ted Simes has taken on the role of COO, and Matt Lane has stepped into the role of CDO for the food bank.
Simes, a Lancaster County native, joined the food bank in July. As COO, Simes is responsible for leading the operations, food sourcing, and transportation, as well as overseeing capital projects and facilities for CPFB. Prior to his start with the food bank, Simes worked in operations as branch manager for CTDI, a logistics and engineering company, and was also the Director of Operations and Food Safety at Lentz Milling Company, a Reading-based food ingredient distributor.
“I have enjoyed collaborating with my colleagues over the past few months on streamlining our operations here at the food bank,” said Simes. “Working collaboratively, it is an honor to carry out our mission of combating food insecurity across our 27-county footprint and to make positive differences in the lives of those we’re able to
help.”
Lane, who resides in Lewisberry, York County, has an extensive nonprofit background in the healthcare and higher education sectors, having worked at the executive level for WellSpan Health, Central Penn College, and
Mount St. Mary’s University. As CDO for the food bank, Lane will lead the charge in developing and executing strategies and campaigns that will elevate the CPFB’s mission, expanding the organization’s reach to help neighbors facing food insecurity.
“I am grateful for this opportunity to be a part of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank team, and I look forward to developing initiatives focusing on community giving, building strong relationships with donors, and increasing engagement and awareness among key stakeholders,” Lane stated.
Shila Ulrich, CEO of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, noted the importance of adding Simes and Lane to the team as they work to address the growing hunger crisis in Pennsylvania.
“We are thrilled to have Ted and Matt join our team,” Ulrich said. “Each of them brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping organizations grow and operate successfully, along with a shared commitment to ending hunger in our communities, ensuring our neighbors can lead healthy lives. We are excited to have them join us on this journey and for our future work ahead, together.”
Both Simes and Lane are also active members of their communities and engage in various philanthropic endeavors.
