UNIVERSITY PARK — WPSU will be releasing new episodes of “Keystone Stories” and “Journeys with Local Historia” beginning the week of Oct. 13.

“Keystone Stories” takes viewers on a unique journey through central Pennsylvania to discover hidden gems and the breathtaking views that make the commonwealth a unique place to live, work and visit. New episodes will air at 9 p.m. on Mondays, starting with “Quirky Festivals” on Oct. 13 and continuing through November with “Outdoor Lifestyle” on Oct. 20, “Veterans” on Oct. 27 and “Waterways” on Nov. 3.

“Journeys With Local Historia” explores and shines light upon Pennsylvania’s rich local history and geography.Hosts Matt Maris and Dustin Edler, owners of the historic walking tour business Walking Historia, design each episode to be a journey modeling how exploring and learning local history can be a fun adventure.

Maris said the upcoming episode is about one of the most interesting outlaws in American history, exploring the life and legend of David “Robber” Lewis.

“Viewers will learn why David Lewis was considered the ‘Robin Hood of Pennsylvania’ and how he has deep ties to central Pennsylvania,” Maris said. “Dustin and I also debunk myths and misconceptions surrounding this legendary figure. In doing so, we hope that viewers will get a sense of the real person rather than the legend because the real story is even better.”

In a previous episode of “Journeys with Local Historia,” Maris and Elder shared how German immigrants played a leading role in Pennsylvania’s beer story.

“During the latter half of the 19th century, German Americans revolutionized beer in America,” Maris said. “We explore three historic German American breweries across the commonwealth and their quintessential lager beer.”

“David Lewis: The Real Story Behind Pennsylvania’s Legendary Outlaw” will air Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. on WPSU.

“Into the Vaults: Pennsylvania Beer History and Culture” can be viewed on the WPSU website.

WPSU-TV, a PBS member station, serves 24 counties in central Pennsylvania and reaches 515,000 households, and WPSU-FM, an NPR member station, is accessible to more than 450,000 listeners in 13 counties. The public media station also includes WPSU Digital Studios, which offers original web series that explore science, arts, and culture.
