BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A short film produced by the Jefferson County History Center has been selected to compete in the 13th Annual Arkhaios Film Festival, an international event focused on archaeology and cultural heritage.
The film, Echoes of Iron – Archaeology of the Frazier Sawmill & Blacksmith Shop, is one of 12 short films chosen for the 2025 Official Selection, according to an announcement from the JCHC. The festival’s screening committee selected the finalists from a pool of global entries, citing each film’s contribution to cultural storytelling and archaeological insight.
Filmed by Brian Fritz and directed by the Jefferson County History Center, the production was funded through a PA Humanities Wingspan Grant supporting community storytelling projects.
The Arkhaios Film Festival, which is free and open to the public, will be held virtually from October 13 through October 19. Festival officials noted that registration is required for viewers to access the online platform. Films from the Official Selection and the Festival Selection categories will be available to screen throughout the week, offering flexibility for audiences.
Since 2023, short films in the Official Selection category have been limited to 20 minutes or less, organizers said. These films, including Echoes of Iron, will be streamed during the virtual event and judged for awards endorsed by the Arkhaios Jury.
The festival is also partnering with archaeology-focused podcasts and YouTube channels to expand coverage. According to the organizers, these outlets may feature stories about the films and interview selected filmmakers during the event.
The full schedule and registration details are available at arkhaiosfilmfestival2025.eventive.org.
