Ted Ortz Selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Employee of the Month

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Ted Ortz has been selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Employee of the Month for July.

Ted has been employed at Brookville Equipment Corporation for the past 17 years. He began his career here working on the Band Saw, and although he has learned different skills along the way, he remains consistent in his work. Ted continues to demonstrate his ability to learn, strong skill set, and work ethic.

Over the course of his career, Ted has spent much time growing his skillset and being the best he can be at operating his piece of equipment, the band saw. In addition to his core responsibilities—cutting material to length, managing materials like tubing, round stock, and angles, and ensuring items are on order—he’s taken initiative to learn new skills on the job. This includes working with the manual mill in the machine shop, developing basic welding techniques, and becoming familiar with the radial arm drill.

Like many in manufacturing, Ted experienced the challenges that came with supply chain disruptions during COVID. While material delays became a frequent obstacle, his patience and focus helped keep operations running smoothly, ensuring that efficiency didn’t suffer in the long run.

When asked how he stays motivated, he says it’s all about staying organized and working efficiently. He keeps his prints loaded and grouped by material to maintain a smooth workflow and maximize output. It’s this proactive approach that makes his contribution so important to the team.

When Ted was asked what his favorite part of the job is, he replied, “Getting paid.” But behind the humor is a strong work ethic and a deep understanding of what matters—do your job well, do it efficiently, and you’re rewarded with the satisfaction of a job well done and the ability to go home with a sense of accomplishment.

In his free time, Ted enjoys being outdoors. He loves to hunt — deer, turkey, small game — you name it, he hunts it.
