DUBOIS- The public and elected officials got an early look at changes Clearfield County Commissioners may make to the DuBois region precincts at Monday night’s work Joint Board meeting.
“With consolidation comes the opportunity to review everything,” said Commissioner David Glass.
The process began by looking at the imbalance with the DuBois Area School District’s precincts for students. Of the three precincts labeled A, B, and C that ideally should be of equal size an issue was apparent. DASD precinct B is larger than A and C combined. While looking into this, it stood out that the ten voting precincts in the current City of DuBois and Sandy Township have a similar, but not as lopsided issue. After consolidation is complete the barriers to redistricting the precincts due to municipal boundaries would be vastly reduced.
No hard deadline was announced. The current proposed plan would eliminate two of the Clearfield County electoral precincts to lift up the numbers of five of the remaining eight.
| Precincts | Voters | Precincts Proposed | Voters |
| DuBois 1st | 778 | DuBois 1st | 1234 |
| DuBois 2nd | 1298 | DuBois 2nd | 1551 |
| DuBois 3rd | 1295 | DuBois 3rd | 1295 |
| DuBois 4th | 673 | ||
| DuBois 5th | 856 | ||
| Sandy – Clear Run | 721 | DuBois Clear Run | 1121 |
| Sandy – Oklahoma | 1040 | DuBois Oklahoma | 1460 |
| Sandy – Sabula | 644 | DuBois Sabula | 644 |
| Sandy – Treasure Lake | 3304 | DuBois Treasure Lake | 3304 |
| Sandy – West Sandy | 1738 | DuBois West Sandy | 1738 |
| Total | 12347 | Total | 12347 |
| Average | 1234.7 | Average | 1543.375 |
Current DuBois precincts 4 and 5 would be dissolved into other precincts. The three untouched would be in the current Sandy Township. Sabula would be untouched as it is too remote. Treasure Lake officially remains a singular untouched precinct due to its unique situation, but has two voting locations within it bringing Treasure Lake into the average per voting location. West Sandy is already large enough.
