PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney woman is facing felony drug charges after she allegedly returned from Pittsburgh with fentanyl and directed an informant to retrieve it from a cemetery near her home.

Court documents indicate that the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Carrie Lin Macko, of Punxsutawney, on October 1, 2025, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Detective Ryan Miller, Carrie Macko was identified through previous law enforcement contact as a known user and dealer. Police say they received information that Macko traveled to the Pittsburgh area and was expected to return with narcotics.

On September 6, 2025, police observed Macko’s vehicle return to her residence. A confidential informant and an undercover officer with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force reportedly arranged with Macko to purchase drugs using $200 in pre-authorized funds, the complaint states.

Macko allegedly instructed the informant to retrieve the narcotics from a designated spot inside Circle Hill Cemetery in Bell Township, Jefferson County, located near her home. The complaint states that Macko provided detailed instructions to find a white envelope near a yellow wheelbarrow by three crosses.

According to the complaint, the informant retrieved the envelope, which was then handed over to the undercover officer. Inside, investigators found four rubber-banded bundles totaling 38 bags of fentanyl, the complaint notes. Some bags were marked with various stamps, according to the complaint.

Shortly after the pickup, Macko allegedly called the informant and asked if they had Narcan in case someone overdosed on the drugs, the complaint notes.

She faces the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver (Felony)
  • Criminal Use of Communication Facility (Felony 3)

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 22, 2025, with Judge Mizerock presiding.

According to court records, she is currently housed in the Jefferson County Prison.
