CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man already accused of possessing drugs is facing new charges for selling drugs to a confidential informant.

Denny Lee Daub, 37, currently an inmate of state prison, was charged by Clearfield Regional Police with two counts of manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and criminal use of communication facility, both felonies, as well as two counts each of intentional possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Daub waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court, sending the case on to the court of common pleas. He is bail is $25,000.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Feb. 25 arrangements were made by a confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine from Daub. An undercover agent and the informant met with Daub outside a business on the Clearfield Shawville Highway where he gave the informant two “eight balls” of methamphetamine in exchange for $200.

A test of the substances received by the informant reportedly confirmed the substances to be methamphetamine and weighted 3.55 grams and 3.40 grams.

Daub is awaiting trial on another case in which he is facing conspiracy-manufacture/delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility, intentional possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. His bail in that case is $2,500. He is scheduled for jury selection in October.

The criminal complaint in that case from March 20, details how police were called to a hotel in Lawrence Township regarding a man who had previously trespassed on the property and was now in one of their rooms.

After an officer ran Daub’s information through JNET, he discovered Daub had a warrant for failing to pay a balance of $110.72.

Officers then made contact with Daub in his room. When he opened the door, they saw Daub and a woman who was also known to police due to previous incidents.

He was advised by an employee that he was not allowed to stay on the property because of the other incident. Officers detained him for the warrant.

The woman explained she was in a relationship with Daub and unaware he was not permitted to be at the hotel. She asked if she could retrieve her sweatshirt and phone from the room. She was accompanied by an officer.

While inside, she allegedly told the officer Daub had methamphetamine on him. She also reportedly picked up a small black bag from a desk and stated that it contained methamphetamine.

Because of this information and after receiving permission from Daub, officers searched the room. The meth in the black bag was found to weigh 4.75 grams, according to the report. A small, plastic case had a burnt straw and 0.44 grams of meth.

They also found a bag with smaller clear, plastic bags that are used in drug distribution, a scale, drug paraphernalia, and two cell phones.

In an interview with investigators, Daub reportedly admitted to buying, possessing and using the drug.
