CLEARFIELD- Worthy President John McLaughlin started his second term as the President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 812 of Clearfield. Since his first term, he has chosen local food banks and suicide prevention as his charities to support.

He held a raffle, by donations, at the annual picnic in July and raised $1,310.00. When asked what he wanted to donate the money towards, he didn’t hesitate to say the money would be going to Living Bread Ministries.

Living Bread Ministries is a local food bank located at 628 Daisy Street in Clearfield. Organized and operated by Jodi and Scott Schultz, they praise and thank God for entrusting the ministry to them. They are extremely grateful for their volunteers who, week after week, faithfully give themselves to show the love of Jesus in a practical way by serving others. They are ever grateful for the generosity of many in their community who, through monetary gifts or food items, have made it possible for Living Bread Ministries to continue to keep their doors open to those who are in need of basic food items. Jodi and Scott encourage anyone to stop by the ministry to see what they have to offer. The ministry is open Mondays at 4:45 p.m. and Wednesdays at 2:15 p.m.

Also, on 16 August, the Aerie hosted a benefit fundraiser for the Josh Mayhew Foundation. The foundation is focused on helping people and the community one cause at a time, while spreading awareness about Suicide Prevention. At the conclusion of the benefit, WP McLaughlin presented a check to the foundation for $7,290.00 of the funds raised during the day.

In addition, F.O.E. 812 member Steve Livergood presented a donation to the CRPD for their Community Outreach Program. He also delivered a donation to the Clearfield Fair and Park Board to help offset the maintenance of the Fairgrounds and the barns. “The Fairgrounds are used by the Clearfield community on a daily basis and the barns are essential in the development of our youth in FFA and 4H programs. This donation is greatly appreciated,” said Fair and Park Board Manager Greg Hallstrom Sr.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles continues to strive to better the community and are dedicated to raising money for charities and communities/individuals who need it most. The Clearfield Fraternal Order of Eagles is “People Helping People.”
