CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man accused of making bombs that he stored in his ex-wife’s home is facing additional charges for possessing an additional explosive device.

Clinton Andrew Park, 33, was originally charged with five felony counts of weapons of mass destruction, one felony count of risking a catastrophe, and six misdemeanor counts of make repairs/sell/etc. offensive weapon after police found the devices on July 22 in a Curwensville home.

Because police found another bomb at a campground in Greenwood Township where he was staying, he is now also facing felony counts of weapons of mass destruction and risking a catastrophe along with misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and make repairs/sell/etc. weapon.

These charges were filed Monday in District Judge Jim Glass’s office. His bail in this case is set at $100,000.

The criminal complaint states that after Park was taken into custody, he was questioned about the items. In his interview, he reportedly admitted he had another homemade device at his camper.

Members of the state police in Clearfield, the Forensic Services Unit and Hazardous Device and Explosive Section responded to the location after getting a search warrant. A suspected homemade explosive was found where Park said it would be within the camper, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Park has been held in the county jail on $25,000 bail since he was arrested on July 22.

His preliminary hearing in the new case is scheduled for Wednesday during centralized court.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the first case in July.

According to the affidavit of probable cause in the original case, a woman called police reporting she found home made bombs and other weapons that belonged to her ex-husband in her home on Walnut Street in Curwensville.

She explained Park has not lived at the residence since December. He texted her on July 21 asking for items he left there. This included a message that said he wanted to retrieve “the metal box that was in our room that I kept my ammo and bombs and knives.”

After she opened the box and found the bombs, a firearm, and a large knife, she called police.

A trooper examined the contents of the box and reportedly found several possible bombs, a modified shotgun and other items.

The area was evacuated and bomb specialists called in to assess the devices.

Meanwhile, police were able to take Park into custody at a business in Curwensville. When he was interviewed, he admitted to making the bombs.

It was noted that because Park has a previous felony offense he is not permitted to possess firearms. Online court records show he pleaded guilty to burglary in 2011.

The bomb expert reported there were five bombs altogether that were made with different materials including shrapnel and were dangerous. They were dismantled and rendered safe. Items possibly used to make the bombs were also taken by police.
