PennDOT Places Truck Speed Display Board on Barrett Road in Bradford Township, Clearfield County

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has placed a radar-controlled speed display board specifically aimed at heavy trucks on Route 1010 (Barrett Road) in Clearfield County. It is intended to remind commercial vehicle drivers to obey the reduced truck speed limit on a downhill grade.

This board faces westbound traffic between Route 322 and Forest Lane in Bradford Township, where there is a posted 20 mile per hour truck speed limit. The board utilizes radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic and posts them to the lighted section of the sign. The board will remain in place through October.

Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of Pennsylvania crashes and fatalities. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally, and tailgating.

PennDOT listed aggressive driving behaviors as a factor in over 50 percent of crashes in Clearfield County in 2023.

Learn more about aggressive driving at PennDOT’s highway safety website, www.PennDOT.pa.gov/safety.
