CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man pleaded guilty to selling drugs during Monday’s session of sentencing court.
Mason Ryan Warren, 23, currently an inmate of state prison, was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to 12 months to three years in state prison for felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-cocaine (8.5grams), along with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was originally charged with three counts each of these offenses.
The new period of incarceration will run concurrent with his current state prison sentence for a probation violation.
The charges stem from incidents in July 2024 when he sold marijuana and cocaine to confidential informants.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 1, 2024, an informant and an undercover officer met with Warren in the parking lot near the Goodwill Store in Decatur Township.
At that time, the informant got into Warren’s car where he/she paid $150 for an ounce of marijuana from Warren.
Another undercover purchase, this time of cocaine was arranged by an informant with Warren on July 23, 2024. The deal was set up via Snapchat with the same location for the exchange.
This informant traveled along with an undercover officer to the parking lot while additional troopers did surveillance on the area.
The informant said when he/she got into Warren’s car, there were two other men in the vehicle with a one of them in the backseat holding a gun. This made the informant uncomfortable, but the purchase of 3.5 grams of cocaine for $270, was completed quickly, with no problem.
On July 30, 2024, an informant told the officers that he/she could purchase cocaine from Warren. This time, Warren set the exchange for the parking lot of the Dairy Queen in Clearfield because Warren said he was trying to avoid Philipsburg due to police in that area looking for him.
Several troopers were involved in this controlled buy as one drove the informant to the location while others watched from a far. This informant received five grams of cocaine for $270.
