SANDYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — An 18-year-old man died Friday after accidentally drowning in the Allegheny River, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

The Venango County Coroner, Christina Rugh, pronounced Jerin Allen Paul Hutton of Coalport, Clearfield County, deceased at 6:07 p.m. at the scene.

State Police from the Franklin barracks responded to the area of 1386 River Drive in Sandycreek Township at 5:19 p.m. Friday for a report of an unresponsive male in the river, according to a release issued by Trooper Grzasko.

According to the release, witnesses saw Hutton enter the river. They tried to help, but he was taken under by the current and never resurfaced. Attempts by fire and EMS personnel to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Hutton was identified at the scene by a person who had reported him missing from Oil City a few hours earlier.

Assisting at the scene were fire departments from Sandycreek, Franklin, Kennerdell, Polk and Oil City, as well as Community Ambulance, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and the Fish and Boat Commission.
