DUBOIS- On Saturday, July 19, local Democrats joined forces with grassroots group Indivisible: Mayday to host a meet and greet with local and statewide candidates in DuBois.
Held at Spider Lake, the event brought together voters, volunteers, and an exciting slate of local and statewide candidates ahead of the critical 2025 election cycle.
The event featured five candidates running for offices ranging from city council to Commonwealth Court, who each spoke directly with voters about the issues that matter most to the community- education, healthcare, workers rights, freedom, and defending democracy.
In attendance were Stella Tsai (Commonwealth Court candidate), Josh Maines (Court of Common pleas), Mike Piccirillo, Melissa Keen, and Deb Mechling.
Judge Tsai spoke on the importance of having a judiciary that will follow the law, and uphold the Constitution stating, “As a member of the Commonwealth Court I will work tirelessly to deliver justice without fear or favor. The courts Should be accessible to all, and not political.”
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and connect one-on-one with candidates in a relaxed, informal setting. The mood was hopeful and focused.
Terry Noble, founder of the PA Dems Rural Caucus, complemented the stop as part of the PA Wilds swing, with gatherings in Elk, McKean, and Warren counties. Noble added “it’s important for state-wide Democratic candidates to meet the rural voters and acknowledge their volunteers in all 67 counties in our Commonwealth.”
“This is how we win—by showing up, speaking out, and organizing together,” said Bobbi Erickson, a member of Indivisible: Mayday. “We’re not waiting for change. We’re building it, right here, we’re engaging with the community, and building awareness of how important these elections are. Vote “Yes” to retain all judges this November.”
For those who missed it, there are still many ways to get involved. Follow Indivisible: Mayday and your local Democratic committee for upcoming events, actions, and opportunities to support pro-democracy candidates at every level.
