WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Reynoldsville man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after state police say he sexually assaulted a sleeping woman in a Jefferson County home last week.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Stutsman, troopers were dispatched to a residence along Route 322 in Winslow Township around 4 p.m. on July 11 for an active domestic situation involving a reported sexual assault.
When officers arrived, they interviewed the woman, who stated that she had been asleep in an upstairs bedroom when she awoke to find Gared Lee Robison, 22, naked and on his knees on top of the bed, according to the affidavit. The woman reported that Robison’s genitals were near her mouth and that he was touching her inappropriately, the complaint said.
The woman reportedly told police she pushed him away and locked the door after he left the residence. She said she did not consent to any sexual activity and would not have done so, given a history of trauma that Robison was aware of, according to the complaint. Trooper Stutsman noted in the complaint that the woman appeared visibly shaken and began showing signs of a panic attack during the interview.
Robison was also interviewed at the scene. According to the complaint, he claimed that as he attempted to get into the bed, his genitals accidentally touched the woman’s lips.
Robison was arrested at the scene and arraigned later that evening before Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock. He was unable to post a $50,000 monetary bail and was confined to Jefferson County Jail.
He faces the following charges:
- Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Unconscious (Felony 1)
- Indecent Assault of a Person Unconscious (Misdemeanor 1)
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 24 at 11 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana.
