CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man, who allegedly exposed himself to juveniles at the River Walk, was in court to answer for his crimes Wednesday.
Police say Brian Ray Beals, 62, was seen by the juveniles near the river on April 18 where he was allegedly touching his privates.
Another witness said she saw him squatting as if he was relieving himself. She heard one of the kids yell to Beals that he was calling the cops. She drove to the other side of the river where the man, later identified as Beals, was leaving. She told him to wait because police were coming but he left on his bike.
According to the affidavit, about an hour later Beals was found walking along Turnpike Avenue. An officer asked him what he was doing at the River Walk. Beals responded that he was cleaning himself off because he had defecated. He stated that he had cancer and was unable to hold his fecal matter. When asked where his bike was, he said he left it downtown so the fecal matter wouldn’t spread down his legs.
He contradicted himself by saying he only had gas at the River Walk when he had just said he was exposed because he was cleaning himself up there.
Another officer found fecal matter and toilet paper in the same yard where he found Beals’s bike.
It is noted in the report that his pants appeared to be clean and dry. When he was taken into custody, officers found a clear glass pipe that Beals said he used to smoke marijuana.
Beals is charged with three felony counts of corruption of minors and three misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, as well as disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He waived his right to a preliminary hearing during centralized court, sending the case on to the county court. He is free on $25,000, unsecured bail.
