One of the best ways to bring friends together is by inviting everyone to a cookout. Here are some tips for making your next summer BBQ one to remember.

Summer is the perfect season to gather friends and family together, fire up the grill and spend quality time outdoors. However, hosting a standout BBQ takes some thoughtful planning and attention to detail. If you want to make your next summer BBQ one to remember, follow these tips to transform your ordinary cookout into an exceptional experience.

Play Music To Set the Mood

Create a playlist that matches the vibe you’re going for at your cookout. If you want a lively atmosphere, add some upbeat summer hits and feel-good classics. For a more relaxed setting, include softer acoustic tracks or nostalgic songs.

Set Up Games

Activities are a great way to keep your guests entertained while the food is cooking or after everyone has finished eating. Cornhole is a must-have at summer BBQs because it keeps everyone engaged and talking. You can also bring out other classic outdoor games such as ladder toss or bocce ball to get guests moving and laughing. For a more casual vibe, set up giant Jenga or a ring toss game—both are easy to play and fun for all ages.

Keep Cool With Frozen Treats

Nothing beats the heat of a summer day like a refreshing frozen treat. Consider offering popsicles in a variety of flavors, or set up an ice cream station with cones, sprinkles and various toppings for guests to build their own sundaes. For adult-only gatherings, frozen cocktails such as margaritas or piña coladas are always a hit.

Send Guests Home With a Small Gift

End your BBQ on a thoughtful note by giving your guests a little something to take home. Mini jars of homemade BBQ sauce, spice rubs or small bags of cookies are inexpensive yet meaningful ways to say, “Thanks for coming!” If you want to get even more creative, consider sending guests home with a link to your music playlist, a small potted plant or instant-print photos from the day.

You can make your next summer BBQ one to remember with a bit of preparation and creativity. A little effort and attention to detail will allow you to create a day filled with great food, fun memories and plenty of laughter.
