DuBois, PA – The 2025 “City of DuBois USCAA Small College World Series” baseball and softball championships will begin this coming Monday, May 12 and play through Thursday, May 15 at Showers Field and Heindl Field. The baseball championship may continue into Friday, May 16 if the loser bracket winner forces a second championship game.
Fans will also be able to come out Sunday night for a Home Run Derby and Fireworks show at Showers Field to kick off the championships.
“The kickoff event on Sunday night the 11th at Showers Field will include a Home Run Derby for both softball and baseball players, and a fireworks show capping off the night”, said Matt Checchio, a sports management representative for the City of DuBois. “The concession stand will be open serving their full menu that night and during the week for all games at both fields,” he added.
The Home Run Derby will start at 8:30pm under the lights at Showers Field with the fireworks show after and is free admission to all attendees.
Day passes for the games starting Monday morning will still be available for purchase at either field with cashless payment only or online at the championship website. Tournament passes can be purchased online, but must be bought before the first game on Monday.
Penn State DuBois baseball holds the #2 spot in their bracket and will play at 4pm on Monday afternoon at Showers Field against the winner of Penn State Schuylkill and Miami Middletown game. The 2025 PSUAC champions Penn State DuBois softball squad is the #3 seed and will play Bay Path University at 2pm on Monday at Heindl Field.
Hosting the championships since 2018 has generated just shy of $3 million in economic impact not only in DuBois, but to the entire Clearfield County area through lodging, eating and ancillary spending at local businesses.
“The Small College World Series generates 1,400-1,500 room nights annually, split about 50% in DuBois and 50% in Clearfield, by visiting schools, staff and fans”, said Checchio. “This year we have schools from Maine, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and as far as Florida again.”

In 2021, Sports Destination Management, the leading publication with the largest circulation of sports event planners and tournament directors in the sports tourism market, announced the USCAA Small College World Series, in conjunction with the City of DuBois and Visit Clearfield County, as a Mid-Market award winner for the 2020-2021 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism.
The Small College World Series brings an estimated 500 student-athletes to DuBois and Clearfield County. The United States Collegiate Athletic Association is a national organization dedicated to providing opportunities for small colleges to compete against like institutions for national-championships and student athlete recognition.
