CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville softball team batted around twice in the second inning of Tuesday’s game against Williamsburg, piling up 14 runs in the frame and going on to an 18-0 drubbing of the Lady Pirates.

The Lady Tide recorded 11 hits and collected 10 walks in just two innings of work, and Curwensville pitcher Addison Siple fired a 3-inning, no-hitter in the Mercy Rule-shortened contest.

Addison Warren, who was 3-for-3 in the game, led off the bottom of the first with a single and Kylah Wos followed with a double.

Warren raced home on a passed ball, while Wos moved to third on the play before scoring on a Siple sacrifice fly.

Ava Hainsey drew a walk after Siple’s sac fly and Natalie Wischuck belted a 2-run homer over the centerfield fence to put Curwensville on top 4-0.

Briah Peoples and Ava Olosky kept the Lady Tide offense going with a single and walk, respectively, but Williamsburg pitcher Karsyn Walter was able to limit the damage by getting the next two batters out to end the inning.

Walter was not able to contain the Lady Tide in the second, however, as she had some trouble navigating the strike zone early in the inning, walking four of the first six Lady Tide batters she faced. Walter issued a total of eight walks in the frame.

Sylvia Witherite hit a pair of RBI doubles in the inning, while Olosky cracked a bases-loaded triple. Olosky, Witherite and Warren each had two hits in the frame.

Curwensville scored eight runs after two outs.

Hainsey and Warren each scored three runs for the Lady Tide. Olosky racked up four RBIs with Witherite, Wischuck and Hainsey adding two apiece.

Siple threw 27 of her 31 pitches for strikes. fanning six Lady Pirates, whose only baserunner came via error.

Curwensville improved to 10-6 with the win. Williamsburg fell to 0-15.

The Lady Tide travel to Glendale Thursday, April 8 for a doubleheader.
