CLEARFIELD – A Hyde man who created child pornography for an individual he believed was a woman, pleaded guilty Monday.
Shain Thomas Andrew McCreadie, 28, was sentenced by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to serve 24 months to 4.5 years in state prison for two felony counts of photograph/video/depict on computer sex act.
He was ordered to complete sex offender counseling. It was noted that after an evaluation, it was determined McCreadie does not meet the criteria to be classified as a sexually violent predator. He will still have to register with authorities under Megan’s Law.
Prior to sentencing, McCreadie’s attorney, David Hopkins, explained that a man posing as a female in England, whom he was in contact with, had “enticed him” to go against his normal behavior. The case only came about after officials in the United Kingdom arrested the imposter and sent the information to Homeland Security in June 2023, he said.
“Agent Adams (of Homeland Security) provided officers (in Clearfield Regional Police) with information regarding an ongoing incident of sexual abuse against a child victim in our jurisdiction,” it says in the affidavit of probable cause.
The perpetrator in the films was identified as McCreadie by his tattoos. The two men were communicating using the social media application, Skype.
Officials were able to find the films featuring the boy with McCreadie in bed and in the shower on his various devices. Several messages between the men over a two year period show they discussed sexually abusing children.
