ALTOONA — The Clearfield track and field team competed at two meets Friday, sending half the athletes to the Altoona Mountain Lion Classic and the rest to the Coudersport Invite.
Clearfield won two events at Altoona and set several program records.
Brady Collins won the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.06 and placed second in the 110 hurdles with a new program record time of 14.86, breaking his own record of 15.10 he set last year. Altoona’s Xavier Midder won the event with a time of 14.54.
Collins was also part of another record-breaking performance as he was joined by Tucker Scott, Kai Lynch and Cooper Broad on the 4×100 relay team that ran a 43.67. which eclipsed the mark set by the foursome of Trevor Krise, Ryan Hindman, Nathan Shadeck and Dan Catalano in 2003. The 4×100 team finished fourth.
Lady Bison Haley Custaney added her name to the Clearfield track and field record books with a winning time of 46.69 in the 300 hurdles. That broke the mark of 46.96 set by Danna Bender in 2023. Custaney also placed second in the 100 hurdles and was part of the fifth-place 4×400 relay alongside Bailey Jacob, Claudia Bailey and Sophia Campolong. Jacob, Bailey and Campolong were joined by Katie Peacock to take fifth in the 4×800 relay as well.
Campolong added a sixth in the 400 dash.
For the boys, Scott placed second in the 100 dash and eighth in the 200 dash, while Lynch was fourth in the long jump and seventh in the triple jump.
At Coudersport, Bison hurdler Ethan Mitchell won the 110 with a time of 16.45. Matt Peace took fourth in the discus. The team of Zane Jenkins, Trent Potter, Eli Barrett and Ty Aveni added a third in the 4×800 relay.
The Lady Bison 4×800 relay team of Marlyna Bender, Emma Jacob, Alyssa Natoli and Aliza Miller recorded a runner-up finish. Dehlia Elbe was third in the pole vault, while Emma Jacob (1600 run) and Kailynn Sankey (100 hurdles) each had eighth-place finishes.
Clearfield is back in action Tuesday, May 6 in the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference at Central Cambria High School.
