CLEARFIELD, PENNSYLVANIA – During this National Correctional Officers Week, District Attorney Ryan Sayers and Clearfield County Child Advocacy Director Dr. Mary Tatum announced that the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County (CAC-CC) has received a donation of pajamas and sleepwear from the staff of SCI Houtzdale along with a generous $1,000 donation from the Journey for Change Program at SCI Houtzdale. The CAC-CC received over 100 items, including pajamas, sleepwear, and undergarments, for children who visit the CAC-CC. Over the years, this has become an annual event at SCI Houtzdale, and staff are always eager to help.
“The CAC-CC provides a vital service in Clearfield County, and it is amazing to see the community continue to support this incredibly important organization,” stated DA Sayers. The CAC-CC is fortunate to have a supportive county surrounding it, and whenever there is a need, donors and gracious volunteers often meet it.
One of those donors/volunteers is Hilda Mayhew and Friends, who regularly donate homemade blankets and pillowcases to the children who visit the CAC-CC. “Without donors and volunteers like SCI Houtzdale and Hilda and Friends, the CAC-CC would not run as smoothly as it does,” Dr. Tatum explained. The CAC-CC is incredibly thankful for all of its friends and benefactors.
The CAC-CC would not be possible without the collaboration of the Multidisciplinary Investigative Team (MDIT) of Clearfield County and the generosity of our communities and organizations. The MDIT consists of representatives from the District Attorney’s Office, Children Youth, and Family Services, Law Enforcement agencies throughout Clearfield County, medical representation, CenClear, Victim Witness, The Crossroads Project, and PASSAGES, Inc.
The CAC-CC is a place where team members refer children and families when they have concerns about neglect, safety concerns, or possible child abuse. If you would like more information about the CAC of Clearfield County or how you can help, please visit their Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/clearfieldcountycac or email them at cac@cenclear.org. If you suspect child abuse, you can report it by calling 1-800-932-0313 or contacting any local police department.
