DuBOIS – On Wednesday, May 7, #1 New York Times bestselling writer Kristine Gasbarre and retired DuBois Central Catholic schools teacher Carol Korthaus will sign copies of their new book collaboration at Luigi’s Ristorante on N. Brady St. in DuBois from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The signing commemorates the release of Gasbarre’s newest memoir, Show, Don’t Tell: A Writer, Her Teacher, and the Power of Sharing Our Stories, which tells the story of the pair’s 30-year friendship to convey the long-term impact of great teachers in the lives of students. The book has been endorsed by Katie Couric and Luke Russert and was published on April 29, 2025 by Hachette Book Group’s faith & inspiration imprint, Worthy Books. Hachette USA is a division of the world’s third-largest publisher.

Timed for Teacher Appreciation Month in May and Mother’s Day, the book also features reflections from more than half a dozen area educators. “This book is a labor of love that is the result of many years of growing together,” Korthaus says. “My love and dedication to Central Catholic and the students I taught knows no bounds because we all have succeeded together.”

“The voices of our hometown teachers bring the story to life,” Gasbarre says. “I’m honored to write another book set in our community—this time to celebrate Mrs. Korthaus, who has played an instrumental role in shaping my path, and other area teachers who truly live the profession. This is a challenging time for many educators. It was especially important to use our story to recognize those who promote the growth and advancement of girls and marginalized students.”

Books will be available for purchase, and the first 25 purchases will receive a free gift.  Reservations are not required.

Show, Don’t Tell: A Writer, Her Teacher, and the Power of Sharing Our Stories is available in hardcover, e-book, and audiobook formats wherever books are sold, including national retailers like Barnes & Noble, Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Signed copies of the book are also available at H.W. Book Peddlers in the DuBois Mall.
