Clearfield During the Clearfield Area School Board meeting Monday the board learned that students in grades three through eight in the Clearfield Area School District are currently in the midst of Pennsylvania System of School Assessment testing and staff members are working to encourage students.
l students are tested in English language arts and mathematics, while students in grades five through eight are tested in science as well.
The students have been given attendance incentives and have also been encouraged to do their best and not to worry about the things they don’t know, but only the things that they have learned.
Beginning May 12 the students will take the Keystone exams, which are a component of graduation requirements for students.
Subjects which are part of the exams include English Literature, Biology and Algebra.
Looking to the future, the board also learned that 123 students are registered for Kindergarten next school year.
The board also learned that information regarding state and federal funding for the 2025-2026 school year is still uncertain and business manager Sam Maney is hoping they will have more information at a conference later this month.
Maney said he will present the budget to the board at the May 19 meeting, and it will be advertised for review for 30 days before adoption in June.
Clearfield Area School District is also hiring, and Superintendent Terry Struble said they are looking for special education and guidance personnel as well as para-professionals and food service staff.
“We’re always hiring,” Struble said and said many positions will need to be filled this summer.
