CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville man was sent to state prison Tuesday for luring a 14-year-old girl from her home to have sex.

Police say Robert Paul Mallon, used his son’s Snapchat account to communicate with the girl who initially believed she was talking with another teen. Later she learned she was actually talking to the 47-year-old Mallon.

President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman sentenced him to serve a total of 42 months to 12 years in state prison with two years re-entry probation for statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and photograph /film/depict sex act, all felonies as well as misdemeanor indecent assault.

It was noted he underwent an evaluation to determine if he is a sexually violent predator, and the result was he did not fulfill the requirements for that classification. However, he will still have to register with authorities under Megan’s Law.

He was also ordered to complete sex offender counseling and to have no unsupervised contact with any female under the age of 18.

According to the affidavit, Mallon asked the girl for nude photos and sent her nude photos of himself. Snapchat which allows photos and messages only to be available for a short time, alerted her that Mallon was saving her nude pictures.

She told investigators that in the early morning hours of Jan. 5, 2024 he convinced her to sneak out of her house and meet him. He picked her up in this truck and took her back to his home where they had sex in the truck while it was parked in the driveway.

She reported that he took nude photos of her while inside the truck and encouraged her to “show the pictures to boys in her school, because that would be hot.”

The victim provided her phone and password to authorities who found two nude photos that included another person. This other person had a distinctive injury to his left knee. The background included items that matched those in Mallon’s truck.

While she was with him, her mother realized she had snuck out and started calling and texting her, demanding she return home. Mallon then drove her home. The victim’s father told police he saw a person in a dark colored pickup truck with a black tool box drop her off at their home. This description also matches Mallon’s vehicle.

When authorities questioned Mallon, he asked for an attorney.

A search warrant was issued to obtain a photo of Mallon’s knee which police discovered has the same distinctive injury.
