Clearfield-  Tammy L. Young announces her candidacy for Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors.

Young is a proud graduate of Clearfield Area High School, class of 1977.  After high school, she attended Lycoming College, graduating with a major in psychology.  She has also earned a master’s degree in counseling from Slippery Rock University and a master’s degree in counseling ministries from the Methodist Theological School in OH.  She is a licensed professional counselor (LPC).

Over the years, she has built a career dedicated to helping others, serving as a Corrections Counselor, Unit Manager, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Mental Health Program Director.

For 15 years, she also led the Hostage Negotiation Team at SCI Albion as a trained Hostage Negotiator.

“These experiences have taught me the importance of communication, problem-solving, and leadership—skills I believe will serve our school district well,”  she says.

“Clearfield has always been my home, and I returned here to stay in 2010. I love our community and enjoy its many recreational opportunities, whether it’s biking, golfing, bowling, or capturing moments through photography.”

“As an engaged member of this community, I am deeply invested in the education and well-being of our young people. I want to ensure each of our students receive an education that prepares them for the complexities of adulthood, equips them to be critical thinkers and wise consumers of information, and encourages them to embrace healthy, active lifestyles.”

“I would be truly honored to serve our community as a member of the Clearfield School Board. Together, we can work toward a brighter future for our students and our district.”

“Thank you for your time and consideration. I humbly ask for your support and your vote. Let’s make a difference for Clearfield!”
