Royalty will take center stage as locals can put their knowledge to the test at the annual Queen’s Quiz Night fundraiser — a night of trivia, laughter, and community spirit.
April 5, the third edition of Queen’s Quiz Night will take place in the Agriculture Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first round of trivia kicks off at 6:30 p.m. This year, proceeds will benefit the Clearfield County SPCA, which was the charity chosen by Clearfield County Fair Queen Kyra Henry.

Emily Johns, queen’s committee member — and 2017 fair queen — said the queen has always hosted a larger fundraiser, ranging from a car show to a pancake breakfast and even a 5K run.
When COVID-19 hit in 2020, that stopped. Thankfully, the events to benefit the community have returned. Johns was inspired by her time as a sorority sister at Alpha Delta Pi in college, where they held trivia nights. “It was a huge event that everyone loved,” she remarked.
“People really seemed to enjoy it.”
Johns has remained involved with the queen’s committee ever since giving up her title at the end of her reign as queen.
She said, “We do get a lot of great community support.” This year’s sponsors include The Ritz Theater, Kuntz Motors, Apple Grove Veterinary Clinic, CNB Bank, Renewal by Andersen, Hallstrom Construction Inc., DuBois & Curwensville Feeds, and Ace Hardware of Curwensville.
Queens for a Cause has carried on the tradition of helping with the Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities, garnering more than $150,000 over the years. This year, Queen Kyra was able to select the beneficiary.
Even with this event, the queen will continue to contribute to the CMN, including selling 50/50s during the fair and the outgoing queen always raises a lamb. This year will mark the 164th edition of the fair, to be held July 11-19.

For the quiz night, participants may take part solo or as part of a team. Admission is $10 per person. The evening will feature five rounds with 10 questions each. There will be a winner for each round with a $25 gift card to a local business. The overall victor will earn a $200 cash award.
Johns said there will also be auction baskets and other prizes. “We have some really good things to raffle off!” Attendees will find items such as a grill, tickets to the rodeo to be held during the Clearfield County Fair, tickets to the Reitz Theater and more.
Light refreshments will be sold. Johns also shared that applications will be accepted soon for the 2025 fair queen competition.
