BROCKWAY — Curwensville’s Addison Siple blasted a pair of home runs Tuesday against Brockway, while tossing a 3-hitter, to lead the Lady Tide to a 9-1 victory in their season opener.

Siple clubbed a grand slam in the top of the third inning to stake the Lady Tide to a 5-0 lead, then added a 3-run shot in the sixth to up Curwensville’s advantage to 9-0. She ended her day 3-for-4 with seven RBIs and two runs scored.

Briah Peoples, Addison Butler and Kylah Wos all singled in front of Siple to load the bases for her in the third. The Lady Tide added another run later in the inning when Natalie Wischuck scored on an error. Wishuck walked after Siple’s grand slam and moved to second on a Sydney Simcox single before scoring on the Brockway miscue.

Peoples and Wos both singled again in the sixth to put runners on for Siple to knock in with her 3-run shot. Wos was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored in her varsity debut. She doubled in the first inning and scored the game’s first run on an Addison Warren fielder’s choice.

Simcox and Peoples each had two hits for the Lady Tide. One of Simcox’s hits was a double.

Siple gave up just one hit through the first five innings before allowing a leadoff double to Sophia Schmader in the sixth. Schmader scored Brockway’s lone run later in the inning on a sacrifice fly. Siple finished her complete game with 17 strikeouts, while not issuing a walk.

Curwensville (1-0) is back in action Thursday, opening its Inter County Conference slate at Juniata Valley.
