Clearfield- Several items were reviewed during the committee meeting for the Clearfield Area School Board Monday night prior to the voting meeting next week.
Superintendent Terry Struble noted the return of Elementary Principal Ken Viedeffer who had been absent for some time and board members expressed happiness that he has been able to return to work.
The board discussed the resignation of Jennifer Evans from her position on the board and advertising the seat.
Struble said that anyone who resides in the school district, is 18 years or older and is a registered voter can send a letter of interest for the position, which will continue until Dec.1 2025.
Letters of interest are to be postmarked no later than April 11 and a special voting meeting will be held after the committee meeting April 21 to choose a new board member.
The district is working with the election board to then have the seat on the ballot for a two-year term, which would complete the term Evans would have filled. Whoever is appointed is welcome to also run in the election for the seat.
Two people have already spoken to the board about their interest in running for a seat on the board in this year’s election.
Under personnel, Struble noted two individuals who are transferring from part time classroom assistants to Special Education staff.
He said both had been employed as classroom assistants for years and decided that they wanted to earn their teaching degrees and so the district worked with them to allow them to take the needed classes for their certificates while also retaining their jobs.
