CLEARFIELD – A former Luthersburg woman will be spending time in state prison for selling Fentanyl to confidential informants and running from probation officers.
Jessica Cynthia McClure, 24, an inmate of the Beaver County Jail, pleaded guilty during colloquy court on Monday to felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in two cases and evading arrest and flight to avoid apprehension, both misdemeanors in a third case.
President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman sentenced her to serve a total of two to four years in state prison with two years consecutive probation.
Prior to sentencing, Ammerman noted that he had received a letter from McClure’s family who wrote in her favor.
“When she gets out, she will need their support,” he said.
Her attorney, Daniel Nelson confirmed that her family has been at every event for all of her cases. He stated that she is apologetic, admitting she had a drug addiction and has been holding down a job through the work release program, showing that she is “trending in the right direction.”
According to the affidavit of probable cause in the first drug case from Jan. 2024, police arranged a controlled buy of Fentanyl from McClure.
A confidential informant said they received a message from McClure on 11:00 a.m. on Jan. 22, 2024 asking if they needed any dope. The informant then set up a meeting during which they would purchase $180 worth of Fentanyl.
The informant and an undercover officer traveled to a residence in DuBois. The informant returned after 28 minutes with a small, stamp bag of a white powdery substance believed to be Fentanyl. The weight was found to be 0.4 grams.
The criminal complaint in the second drug case details how another controlled buy was set up by an informant on April 17 for three “bricks” or approximately 3 grams of Fentanyl.
The purchase was completed with the informant and an undercover officer at McClure’s residence where she sold one brick for $225. McClure told them she would be “running to get more and would be home in about four hours,” according to the complaint.
The last crime took place on July 4 in Sandy Township after an off duty officer, spotted two probation officers on Interstate 80 westbound off ramp 97, escorting a handcuffed female, McClure, out of a wooded area.
He stopped to ask if they needed help, but they declined as they were able to secure her in the vehicle before completing her transport to the Jefferson County Jail.
On July 15, police received a report from these probation officers. They explained they had picked up McClure at Penn Highlands DuBois after she received medical treatment. As she was being transported, she told them she was going to vomit. The driver pulled the vehicle to the side of road which was the Interstate 80 on ramp.
“As they slowed down, McClure was able to exit the vehicle and run for a wooded area,” it states in the affidavit of probable cause. She was able to open the car door after one of the officers rolled down her window.
When she was taken back into custody, she apologized, saying she didn’t want to go to jail.
