CLEARFIELD – The number of people, businesses and organizations stepping up to help a mother who lost two sons and her home, continues to grow.
The Gunpowder Grille has arranged a spaghetti dinner for Stephanie Brink for Sunday, Feb. 16.
“On Tuesday morning, I had noticed on Clearfield Live the devastating news of the Clearfield fire. As a mom of three boys, and two of which are in the Houtzdale Ramey Fire Company it tore my heart up more,” said Marissa Ralston, partner in the business.
She realized, as many others have, that this is a time for the community to come together to help.
“I reached out to Stephanie Kline, owner of Bobs Army and Navy and one of our partners, and suggested we look at holding a spaghetti benefit dinner for Stephanie Brink to assist her and show her that we all are here rallying for her.
“We contacted DelGrosso’s through a great friend that works there to order the spaghetti, initially for 240 people, then contacted Sue Diehl who received a donation from the Clearfield Wrestling Club of spaghetti and sauce, so we increased that number.”
Others immediately offered to help.
“Jason Gill from Country Butcher, who does amazing things in his own right, has offered to help us with selling tickets and some other things we needed. Izen at Blue Moon Media & Marketing donated the ticket printing and Clearfield Wholesale Paper is helping us with to go boxes.
“We have churches offering baked goods and are planning a bake sale the day of the pick up. The former owner of Ethans, Thad Durant currently with Curtze Food service is assisting as well as Zach with US Foods, the Houtzdale Moose, The Progress, staff at Clearfield Revitalization Corp., Mid Penn Bank Manager Lisa Jordan and countless others.”
Even those from out of the area want to help as her co-workers are also donating, she said.
“The outpouring of support from our community is simply amazing, I literally am overwhelmed with how this has shaped together and how community comes together to support someone in need.”
Because of the large amount of donations for the meal, all of the money raised will go to Stephanie.
This dinner will also benefit seniors in the area as those just wanting to purchase a ticket but not get the meal, can donate it to an area senior. Little Red Riding Hood will then deliver it to their home.
Tickets which can be purchased at Bob’s Army & Navy store, Country Butcher, Clearfield Revitalization Corp. and Houtzdale Moose Lodge, cost $12. The meal includes DelGrosso spaghetti, meatballs, salad, a roll and dessert.
Pick-up is from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 237 E. Market Street. Delivery is available upon request. For more information, check their Facebook page or call 814-205-6558.
“We have a goal of selling over 400 meals, and I honestly expect we are going to exceed that number,” Marissa said.
