Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery was chosen by WreckMaster Inc. to receive the 2024 Donnie Cruse Memorial Award for excellence in heavy duty recovery.

WreckMaster is the towing and recovery industry’s leading accredited training institution providing towing, recovery and specialized industry training worldwide.  Donnie Cruise was the founder of WreckMaster in the early 1990’s and was a pioneer and legend in training and certification for the towing and recovery industry.

In 2002, Donnie Cruise, his wife, daughter and granddaughter were tragedy killed in a shooting in Canada.  Each year since 2002, the Donnie Cruise Memorial Award has been presented to a single towing company worldwide for light, medium and heavy-duty service at the American Towman Exposition in Baltimore, Maryland.

On November 21, 2024, Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery was presented with the award for the Heavy-Duty Recovery category.

Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery was chosen based on a highly involved recovery they performed in February of 2024 on Route 322 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, which involved a tractor with tanker trailer loaded with crude glycerin that rolled multiple times down the mountainside.

Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery assisted the fire departments with extrication of the driver, who escaped with only minor injuries, recovery of the tractor, recovery of the cargo in the damaged tanker, recovery of the tanker trailer and restoration of the property damage caused by the incident.

During the award presentation, Casey Burrows, lead instructor of WreckMaster, said that “Bigler Boyz was chosen for the award because WreckMaster acknowledges that every aspect of the complex recovery was managed with professionalism and expert skill.”

Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery has 35 full-time employees and four locations in Kylertown, Woodland, Clearfield and DuBois, Pennsylvania providing towing, recovery and roadside services for multiple police departments, 911 centers, the public and commercial trucking companies.

Bigler Boyz Towing & Recovery is honored to have been presented with such a prestigious award and couldn’t have done it without the support and dedication of our employees, their families, and all the other emergency services that responded to the incident.
