Eminent Domain Begins
The four present Sandy Township Board of Supervisors present at their monthly meeting voted to begin the eminent domain process for easement access to install sewer line. The eminent domain will be against the Homewood Suites property owned by Rama Tika Developers, LLC.
Interim Co-manager Ben Kafferlin stated that he himself, and previous DuBois Manager Shawn Arbaugh, had both called and visited the property in person several times trying to get an easement. The property will be turned back over to Rama Tika once construction is finished.
Public Works Director and Employee Changes
The Board of Supervisors voted to authorize the co-managers of Kafferlin Strategies to advertise and hire a Public Works Director for Sandy Township who will be technically hired by the City of DuBois. The position will be Deputy Public Works Director under the current and future City of DuBois with Sandy Township reimbursing the City for its share of the salary.
As consolidation nears completion, this is a process Sandy Township will move forward with to ease the administrative work as the crossover, and payrolls, between the municipality increasingly intermingle.
DuBois will increasingly pay all the salaries and wages directly with Sandy Township periodically reimbursing the City.
Assistant Fire Chief Stipend
The Assistant Sandy Township Fire Chief, Jonathan Uren, requested and was granted a $100 per month via a gas card.
The request was to requested citing increased travel in Uren’s private vehicle in going to an increasing amount of fire calls as DuBois and Sandy fire departments increasingly going out on each other’s calls.
