CLEARFIELD – A committee is being formed in Clearfield County to plan a celebration in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the integral role of the Keystone State.
On Tuesday, the board of commissioners announced numerous appointments to the America 250/PA 250 Clearfield County Advisory Committee that will operate under the Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority/Visit Clearfield County.
Appointments included: Mary Kay Royer, Frenchville; Richard Hughes, Clearfield; Christy Brown, Clearfield; Dianne Byers, Mahaffey; Shawn Arbaugh, DuBois; Terry Rickard, Curwensville; Jennifer Tubbs, Curwensville; Robert Baney, Osceola Mills; Denny and Sue Shaffner, Penfield; Izen Lingenfelter, Houtzdale; and Bill Hayward, Houtzdale.
Also appointed to the committee were VCC Board Members John Sobel and Susan Williams; VCC Travel Development Specialist Brandy Owens; and VCC Executive Director Susan Swales-Vitullo.
Additional appointments are expected as committee members come together to plan local celebrations in 2026.
In 2021, the county appointed Julie Houston from the Clearfield County Historical Society to the state-level America 250/PA 250 County Advisory Committee.
In other business, the commissioners:
- approved the personnel report consisting of one new hire and one employee separation/retirement.
- approved the minutes of the Jan. 7 board meeting as presented by the chief clerk.
- approved the bills as presented by the Controller’s office.
