INDIANA — Three-sport star Brady Collins added another feather to his cap in his Clearfield Bison career, as he became the all-time win leader for the storied Clearfield Bison wrestling program on Saturday January 11.
Picking up win number 18 on the season, against one loss, gave Collins a career mark of 137-16, breaking the win total of class of 2006’s Matt Kyler, who finished with a record of 136-13. That, along with also breaking the career, and season, rushing total in the fall for the football team, puts Collins in rarified air as an athlete at any school. It remains to be seen if Collins can break the single season win record for the Bison, currently held by 2009 grad Sean Owen with 43 wins.

Collins used four tech falls during Friday’s first day of action to reach one win short of the record. However, Collins was defeated 10-2 by Brian Heard (30-3) of Abington Heights in Saturday morning’s semifinals to be knocked into the wrestlebacks. Once there, Collins went 2-0 to place third and eclipse the record, with lots of season still remaining to add to it.
The record breaking win place in the third place match was a 17-3 dismantling of Bishop McCort’s C.J. Pensiero, the same opponent that Collins defeated 15-11 just a week ago in the Laurel Highlands Conference Tournament championship match.
Three other Bison reached dat two of the rugged tournament, each falling one win short of the medal stand by losing their first match Saturday in the blood round.
They were juniors Cash Diehl (13-6) at 139, Colton Bumbarger (15-8) at 145, and Colton Ryan (16-5) at 152.
The Bison finished with 88 team points, leaving them in a tie for 17th place with Greenville. Bishop McCort easily defended their 2024 tournament crown with 299 points.
The Bison will return to dual meet action during the week as they head to Wingate on Tuesday to face a tough road test in Bald Eagle Area (8-2) who placed sixth at the Mid-Winter Mayhem and then host Huntingdon (15-2) on Wednesday in the Arthur J. Weiss Gymnasium.
The 16th Annual Bison Duals are then slated for next Saturday at Clearfield Area Junior/Senior High School
