ELIZABETHTOWN — The Curwensville girls wrestling team competed at the Elizabethtown BAGABU Brawl on Saturday, December 21 at Elizabethtown High School.
The Lady Tide were 20th out of 29 teams, while placing a pair of girls on the podium.
Tessa Queen took third at 142 pounds, while Emily Neeper was fourth at 190.
Queen was 3-1 with three pins on the day, including a fall in 1:38 against Upper Dauphin’s Marjorie Hoffman-Long in the third-place bout. Neeper was 1-2 in a small field at her weight class. She won an 11-10 decision in her quarterfinal before falling in the semis and third-place bout.
Matilyn McCracken was 2-2 at 148 pounds, recording a pair of falls. Jordin Peoples (124) and Taylor Shirey (170) each went 1-2 with a pin.
In junior high action, the Lady Tide put a pair of wrestlers on the top of the podium in McKenzie Astorino (77) and Brylee London (148). Astorino was 2-0 with two falls, while London went 4-0 with four falls.
Allison Neeper added a fifth-place finish at 165. She lost her first bout, but then won her next five, The Lady Tide were seventh out of 20 in the team race.
Both the varsity and junior high are back in action December 30 at the Powerade Tournament.
