FALLS CREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — Police say a Centre County man is behind bars for reportedly sexually assaulting a young boy in Falls Creek Borough.

Court documents indicate that DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 19-year-old Steven Christopher McGovern, of Boalsburg, Centre County, in District Judge David Inzana’s office on Wednesday, September 4.

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation was assigned to Trooper Carol Strishock on February 2, 2024. A forensic interview was conducted on a young male victim on February 12.

The victim disclosed that sexual abuse had been committed by Steven McGovern, the complaint states.

During the interview, the victim detailed sexual incidents that started on January 5, 2024. The victim explained various sexually explicit incidents that were forced onto him by McGovern, according to the complaint.

McGovern was 18-years-old when this incident occurred, the complaint notes.

On March 27, the case was reassigned to Trooper Michael Dandrea, who interviewed McGovern on August 16. During the interview, McGovern allegedly admitted to performing certain sexual acts on the victim, but he denied other specific explicit accusations, the complaint continues.

McGovern disclosed the incidents occurred in a residence in Falls Creek Borough, Jefferson County, the complaint indicates.

He was arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, on the following charges in front of Judge Inzana:

  • Indecent Assault Person Less Than 13 Years of Age, Felony 3 (three counts)
  • Corruption of Minors — Defendant Age 18 or Above, Felony 3

Unable to post $100,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 10, at 12:30 p.m., with Judge Inzana presiding.
