CLEARFIELD – The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 812 of Clearfield, along with Visit Clearfield County, will be hosting the 44th annual PA F.O.E. State Pool Tournament in Clearfield. The event will be held at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds, May 10 -12.
This annual tournament brings in teams, comprised of six to eight persons, from any of the 75 F.O.E. Aeries within the State. Although not all Aeries participate, there’s currently 71 teams registered for the event.
The teams will compete by playing BCA rule format eight-ball—playing two persons each game against their opponent, with a race to five wins.
Shooting will be conducted in three sets of three games, with a maximum of one game per any one player per set and three games for any one player per match.
Due to the size of the event, the Clearfield Eagles were able to secure an off-site venue at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. The main tournament will take place in the Expo I building with 20 tables, while a few practice tables will be set up in the Agriculture building.
They appointed a special committee to coordinate, plan and execute the event. The committee was able to also secure RV lots and tenting at the fairgrounds, blocked off just about every hotel room they could in Clearfield, locked in food vendors for the three-day event, purchased outdoor tenting with tables and chairs, coordinated shuttle buses to transport to/from the hotels and the local Aerie, hired Midwest Pool Promotions to run the tournament and much more.
“This has been an overwhelming event to coordinate, but our Tournament Committee has done an excellent job working together to ensure this event is a success for our Aerie and, more importantly, the local community of Clearfield,” says Committee Chairman Justin Hainsey.
He noted that the event will be open to the public for spectators to watch, but alcohol will only be served to F.O.E. members and their guests.
Larry’s Barbeque, Ricco’s Concessions, Stromboli Land and Sweet Dreams Snack Shack will be set up all three days of the event to serve the public and tournament participants.
The Clearfield Eagles would like to extend a special thank you to Visit Clearfield County, The Clearfield County Fair and Park, Fullington’s, Square One Design and Print, Mid-State Amusement, Midwest Pool Promotions, Reed Brothers, Champions Choice, Night Cash ATMs, Genna Ice, Curwensville Beverage, Jack’s Distributing, all the food vendors and local hotels.
