DUBOIS – Suspended DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio was fired Tuesday, according to a WJAC-TV report.
During its re-organizational meeting Tuesday, DuBois City Council voted, 3 to 2, to terminate Suplizio from the post.
The report notes that Council Members James Aughenbaugh and Shane Dietz were responsible for the two dissenting votes.
In November Suplizio, 63, of DuBois was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of conspiracy and federal program fraud.
From 2014 to 2022, Suplizio allegedly conspired with city employee Roberta Shaffer, 58, also of DuBois, to funnel and steal hundreds of thousands in city funds.
If convicted, the law provides for a total sentence of not more than 45 years’ imprisonment, a fine of not more than $1,250,000, or both.
Also, on Tuesday, council voted, 3 to 2, to accept the resignation of City Solicitor Toni Cherry. Aughenbaugh and Dietz were the dissenting votes.
